I get stuck all the time, it is difficult to get given a project and know exactly how you're going to achieve the best result.
In this post I'll be demonstrating how I get inspirations, hopefully, this will benefit you who will be reading this post and also be a reminder for myself in the future so I never forget about the basics.
My favourite websites to go to for inspirations are Pinterest, Instagram and trusty old google images. I also enjoy looking through Lofter and Weibo to explore and discover digital artists and illustrators in my spare time to expand my vision.
So, to begin with, I need a project, in this example, I'll be using my work from art last year(2019). My theme for my first artboard was 'A sense of place'. The first artist that caught my eye was a Scottish artist called Emily Moore. She is currently my favourite contemporary artist.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
- Female Scottish contemporary artist born in 1989.
-The main subject of her works are landscapes and architectural buildings influenced by the photographs she has taken on her travels to record her journeys.
- Interested in exploring the conflicting ideas of the irregular patterns and forms of the environment (due to the environment she grew up in where mountain ranges surround) and the orderly geometric structures of architectural buildings. (1)
(The opinions below are all according to my preferences and taste and I do understand that there will be people who hold very different opinions.)
POSITIVE
-Uses less saturated colour combinations which are comfortable to the eye.
-Contrasting textures between the rough brush strokes of the background with the smooth stencilled landscape and slightly more detailed architectural painting.
-Variety use of media and canvas.
NEGATIVE
-Most of the more bold colours are on the architecture however the composition of the buildings do not normally the centre of attention.
-The salience of some artworks are not clear.
This is the process I go through to analyse all the artists that influence my artwork. Then I do some simple practices before I begin my final piece. For this piece of work, I got influence from 3 different artists to achieve.
