ISOLATION

A mountain village

Under the piled up snow

The sound of water

For this poster, I have been experimenting with simple geometric shapes to convey the idea of isolation. A feeling of being trapped and unable to escape. To achieve this positive and negative spaces are used, the black background act as a barrier which surrounds the keyhole. Repetition of the arrows were used, but I played around with the scale and orientation, this portrays lack of direction and further emphasis the idea of being isolated and trapped. Gestalt principle of area applied to create distance and also draws attention to the keyhole.

Generally, I have really enjoyed this exercise it allowed me to move away from all the distractions from the details and really focus on the principles. My original drafts are much more complicated because I had the mindset that it's not effective enough if it's too simple.
